Eve Of Destruction

from BARDS: Of The Morning Star by BARDS

  • Mystic Tape Deck successfully funded production of this 50 Page illustrated full color book and companion 16 song CD via Kickstarter in 2019:

The book is a collection of reprints of several recruitment pamphlets issued by an underground musical/spiritual cult known as the "Cloak Of Nazili" in the early 1970's - complete lyrics with full color plates of original artwork by PS Perkins.

This edition serves as the minerval guide to the Cloak, a mere introduction to the the world of and beyond the confines of one of the world's most underground, elusive and bizarre hermetic cults. A basic cosmogony and foundation of the surface mythology is cryptically laid out for eager believers and bold adventurers alike. A fusion of reality and fantasy, a "megafictional" blend of myth and fact that at once seeks to explain not only our current place and predicament as a species, but how we got here, and where we might be headed.

What secrets will the next installment hold?
What new strange and esoteric truths are waiting to be revealed?

The Shining One makes prophecies about the coming doom facing humanity, pointing to its essential causes and inescapable conclusion.

The streets are all empty with no one to roam
Nobody is knocking, and there’s no one at home
All the soft comforts have turned into stone
An empty can rattles amongst mountains of bone
How could they have known
They were on the eve of destruction?

Never any winners in the games that they played
Binding no mercy in the gods they portrayed
Their hearts became empty, alone and afraid
Standing for nothing, their purpose decayed
Their bed had been made,
They were on the eve of destruction

Brandishing axes, chopping down trees
To carve out the ark now adrift in the seas
But it’s sails remain empty, they capture no breeze
Millions of people asleep on their knees
Refusing to see,
They were on the eve of destruction

The pyres were assembled and soon set to flame
To Burn all the witches they had chosen to blame
Shouting in anger their pride knew no shame
Reducing to ashes what they could not tame
It’s always the same,
Upon the eve of destruction

How could they know
They were on the eve of destruction
No seed left to sow,
They were on the eve of destruction
Someone to blame upon the eve of destruction
It’s always the same upon the eve of destruction
